Baking is an art I believe. When I started baking my very first cake there are few hiccups here and there in the process. But over time, I'm getting to learn the art by taking tips from experts and fellow bloggers. We will see a cupcake recipe. As chocolate is loved by most of us, we shall see the recipe for a chocolate cupcake, flavoured with coffee.
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour /maida
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup sugar
4 tsp vegetable oil or olive oil
1 cup warm water
1 tsp coffee powder
Steps:
1. For baking, we mostly have wet ingredients and dry ingredients in a separate bowl. This ensures that the ingredients are mixed well in their proportion.
2. Preheat oven to 350 F or 180 C.
3. In a large bowl, sieve together all purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, sugar. When you sieve the dry ingredients together, the resulting cake will become fluffy. Hence it's highly recommended to sieve together the dry ingredients.
4. In another bowl, mix a cup of warm water with coffee powder. To this, add vegetable oil and mix well.
5. Now, it's time to add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl, and mix gently so that it forms a lump free batter with a thick consistency. Do not overmix.
7. Grease the cupcake tray or foil with oil. You could alternatively use butter.
8. Pour the cake batter into each cups of the tray. Make sure you fill only 2/3 portion of the cup. Once baked, the cake will become fluffy so we need room for that fluffy cake.
9. Place the tray in the centre rack of the oven. Bake the cake for 18-20 minutes.
10. Check the baked cake by inserting a toothpick and it should come out clean without cake sticking to the toothpick. This ensures the cake is baked well.
11. Remove the cake tray from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Keep the tray upside down onto a plate or cooling rack.

12. You can decorate the cake with your imagination. Here I have topped the cupcake with sugar crystals, pineapple jam, sliced almonds and strawberries to make it look colourful and delicious too !
