Semiya upma is easily eatable by babies because of the texture. Here I have shared the recipe for vegetable semiya upma.
Ingredients:
1 cup semiya/vermicelli
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp split urad dhal/black gram
2 tbsp chopped onions
2 tbsp chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp finely chopped carrots
1 tbsp peas
1 tbsp finely chopped beans
3 cups of water
salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves (optional)
Steps:
1. In a pan, dry roast the semiya and keep it aside.
2. In the same pan, add oil. Then add mustard seeds and split urad dhal.
3. Once it sputters, add onions. Saute for 3-4 minutes.
4. Add tomatoes and saute till it becomes mushy.
5. Add chopped vegetables, salt and saute for 2 minutes.
6. Add 3 cups of water and bring it to boil on high flame.
7. Add roasted semiya into the boiling water slowly and also constantly stirring at the same time. Stir once, close the pan with a lid. Switch off the flame.
8. After 10 minutes, water would be absorbed by semiya/vermicilli completely and it will be cooked.
10. Now switch on low flame, add little oil/ghee and coriander leaves.
Note: If your baby likes chillies, then you can add green chillies too.
