Banana Walnut Milkshake

Banana and walnut is a match made in heaven. You try to bake a cake with these duo, it turns out to be wonderful. You try adding to a milkshake, it tastes yummy. You can even bake cookies with banana and walnut. Needless to say there are other options like muffin, cupcakes, oatmeal cookies, pancakes made using banana and walnuts.



Bananas are rich in fibre and helps in easy digestion while walnuts are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. While the list of nutrietns in this duo goes on and on, i'm just highlighting the most obvious nature of these duo. Let's look at the simple steps of making banana walnut milkshake.



Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas
5-6 pitted dates or deseeded dates
1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
2 cups of milk, for vegan you can use soy milk or almond milk
2-3 almonds or pistachios, chopped lengthwise

How to make banana walnut milkshake:

1. If the dates being used for this recipe are very dried and hard in texture and you feel it might not very well blend when put in a mixer or blender, then soak the dates in hot water for 15 minutes.



2. Add the bananas, deseeded dates and chopped walnuts and 1/2 cup of milk.



Tip: Never use warm or hot milk for milkshakes, it might curdle at times and does not get along with the ingredients well. It's best to use cold milk or the milk at room temperatures.

I have used almond milk today.



3. Pulse the mixer for about a minute so that the fruits and nuts get grinded smoothly.



4. Then add remaining 1 and half cup of milk and blend.





5. Pour it into a serving glass.





 6. Top it with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios.
