Sprouts have a major health benefits like providing the daily required amount of proteins and vitamins like C, K and B. They are also rich in fiber thereby helping in weight loss and good for skin health too. While sprouts are readily available in markets these days, it is always a better choice to prepare fresh sprouts at home.

I'm happy to share the healthier version of breakfast recipe today using green gram sprouts and chick peas. The ingredients list is quite simple and you do not need to rush to the market. Let's quickly see how to make the amazing sprout salad.

Ingredients:
1 cup of moong dhal or green gram
1 large tomato
1 ripe avocado
1/2 cup soaked and cooked chick peas
salt to taste
1 tsp lime juice
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
How to make sprouts salad:
1. Wash and soak the green gram/moong dhal in enough water for 12 hours.

2. Strain the water using a muslin cloth or any cotton cloth.

3. Tie it and let it stand for another 24 hours. Sprinkle water at regular intervals to keep the green gram wet.

Tip: Alternatively, you can place the strained moong dhal cloth in a shallow container filled with 1/4 cup of water to make sure the moong dhal touches water base.
4. After 24 hours, you would see the green gram sprouting out. The sprouts are ready to eat as such or go into salad bowls :)

Tip: If you continue to keep the green gram in the moist cloth for another 12 hours, you would get even more lengthier sprouts peeping out!
5. Next, take the freshly made sprouts into a bowl.

6. Add cut avocados, tomatoes.

Tip: The other options could be chopped onions, carrots, corn, radish, orange wedges, pitted green/black olives.
7. Then add salt, black pepper powder, lime juice.

8. Then add cooked chickpeas - canned chickpeas can also be used. Mix the salad bowl ingredients well.


9. Healthy green gram sprout salad is ready!

10. Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil on top of the salad before serving.
