Berry smoothie

Smoothies are well packed with energy fruits like berries and milk. It's definitely a mid morning drink or even can be your morning breakfast complement to energize you for the rest of your day. Today, we shall see the mixed berry smoothie using cold milk - you can use yogurt too instead of milk to get that thick texture. Ingredients: 1 cup of mixed berries -strawberries, blueberries, blackberries 2 tsps of cane sugar or honey 1.5 cups of full fat milk Whipped cream - optional Few Ice cubes - optional How to make berry smoothie: 1. Wash the berries thoroughly with water and add it to a blender or food processor. 2. Add a little bit of milk and sugar. Tip: I’m using cold milk and so not addding ice cubes. If you are using milk at room temperature, then add ice cubes. For smoothie or milk shakes, hot milk should not be used as it curdles the milkshake. 3. Add milk and blend until smooth. 4. Semiya payasam/Vermicelli kheer

Kheer or payasam is made using milk and semiya, sabudhana,rice or semolina. The variety is a plenty and in today's blog we are going to see the basic payasam which my mom makes at every single occasion in our home. It is a kid-friendly recipe and you can feed your one year toddler too with the health benefits from dry fruits and milk :) Ingredients: 1 cup of semiya/vermicelli 1 cup of sugar 2 cups of milk 1/4 cup of chironji seeds 1/2 cup of dry fruits - cashews,raisins and almonds 1/2 tsp cardamom powder/ 2 cardamom pods 2 tbsp ghee How to make semiya payasam: 1. Heat a non-stick pan and add a tbsp of ghee and roast the dry fruits like cashews, raisins and almonds along with chironji seeds. Transfer it to a plate or bowl and keep it aside. Tip: Just fry the nuts till they turn light brown - do not fry them for long time. 2. In the same pan, add a tbsp of ghee and cup of semiya/vermicelli. 3. Blueberry Milkshake

Berries are good for metabolism and hence it's a friendly fruit for weight-watchers. It boosts your energy level too. Here is a simple recipe of  blueberry shake - you can add sugar or honey as per your choice. Ingredients: 3/4 cup  of fresh blueberries 3 tsp sugar or as required, honey can be substituted 1.5 cup of cold milk whip cream (optional) Few ice cubes (optional) How to prepare blueberry milkshake: 1. Wash the blueberries with water thoroughly. Add the blueberries and sugar to a food processor or blender. 2. Add a little bit of milk. Blend it smoothly. Banana Sweet Appam

Breakfast recipes are a plenty and in today's blog we are going to see how to make a sweet breakfast dish out of banana and rice flour. You can use sugar instead of jaggery - choice is yours. Since you add ripened bananas which itself offers sweetness to the dish, adjust sugar/jaggery as per your taste. The appam could also be made with idly batter tempered with mustard seeds, channa dhal, chopped onions, curry leaves and grated coconut for a non-sweet version.
