Besan halwa recipe is so cool and damn easy. You can prepare it even if you do not have cooking skills. Trust me, with just minimal ingredients besan halwa is made. Also unlike atta halwa, where continuous stirring is required to get the desired halwa consistency, besan halwa takes a lot lesser time and of course less stirring. Let's quickly see how to prepare besan halwa. Just ignore the imperfections in the shape of the halwa, it just show how soft the halwa is! It easily melts down in your mouth :) Do give it a try.

Ingredients:
1 cup of besan flour or Bengal gram flour or chick pea flour
1 cup ghee
3/4 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
1/4 cup of chopped cashews or almonds or pistachios
How to make besan halwa:
1. Heat a heavy bottomed pan and roast the gram flour till aromatic on medium flame.


2. Melt the ghee till its diluted well without lumps.

3. Add roasted gram flour to half of the melted ghee and mix well.


4. Make sure there are no lumps.

5. In a heavy bottomed pan or non-stick vessel,

6. add half a cup of water and add sugar.

7. Let the sugar syrup boil till 1 string consistency.

8. Then add the roasted gram flour + ghee mixture to the sugar syrup.

9. Keep stirring continuously and add a tsp of ghee at regular intervals.


10. Optionally, you can add chopped cashews or almonds.

11. Switch off the flame when you have a semi-solid consistency like halwa.

12. grease a plate with ghee and then pour the besan halwa onto the plate. let it cool down a bit for 5 minutes.


13. Run a knife over the halwa and cut into desired shapes.

14. Besan halwa is ready for slurping! you can also use chick pea flour in place of besan flour.
