Boli

Sweet boli is a healthy snack or breakfast recipe in our home and today i really enjoyed the process of making boli using sugar and bengal gram.



Alternate options would be jaggery which is a healthier version of boli. Kids would definitely love this recipe. Do try it out and share your valuable feedback. Here are few other sweet recipes from my blog:

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat flour
Salt to taste
A pinch of yellow food color or turmeric powder
1/3 cup water 
3 tbsp of ghee ( for preparing dough and frying boli)


For the filling:

1/2 cup bengal gram
2 cups of water
1.5 tbsp sugar or powdered jaggery
A pinch of cardamom powder

Steps:

Soak channa dhal/bengal gram for about 3 hrs.


Add flour to a mixing bowl.


Add salt.


Add yellow color. 


Add ghee.


Mix well.


Add water and knead the dough.


Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.


Add washed bengal gram to a pressure cooker. Add 2 cups of water and cook for about 10-12 minutes.


Add cooked bengal gram to a pan. Cook on low heat by adding sugar or jaggery.


When the water evaporates completely, switch off the flame. Let it cool completely and make small balls out of it. Stuffing is ready.


Take chapati dough and make small disc shaped rotis. Place the stuffing.



Cover by bringing all the edges to the center.


Gently flatten it.



Roll it to a slightly thick roti. do it carefully so that the stuffing does not come out. Boli is ready to be heated up on tawa.



Heat a griddle or tawa with a tsp of ghee. Place boli on tawa and cook on medium flame for about 45 secs.



Flip and cook for another 45 secs.



Smear some ghee on top and cook till done.



Tadaaah! Boli is ready to serve.
