Halwa is most sought after sweet/dessert for me. It does take a lot of hard(hand) work to cook halwa - be it carrot halwa, beetroot halwa, thirunelveli halwa, wheat halwa, muscot halwa, besan halwa etc.
Carrot is loaded with vitamins and helps to improve your eyesight. You can serve this dessert to kids as well.
Ingredients:
500 gms of carrrots
500 gms of carrrots
300 gms of sugar
2 tbsp condensed milk
1/2 cup milk
How to make carrot halwa:
Wash and peel off the skin from the carrots.
Grate the carrots.
All the carrots are nicely grated.
Heat a heavy bottomed pan - i have used a pressure cooker pan.
Add grated carrots.
Cook the carrots till they turn the color slightly.
After 6-7 minutes, add sugar.
Mix it thoroughly.
Sugar starts to melt and it changes the color to little darker.
Keep stirring at regular intervals.
Add milk.
Add condensed milk.
You can adjust the sugar as you add condensed milk.
The carrots get cooked completely.
Chop cashew nuts into small pieces. Any other nuts can be used.
Add chopped cashews.
Add cardamom powder.
Mix well.
Once the milk evaporates and gets thicker you will get nice aroma.
Switch off the flame and serve it warm with gulab jamun or ice cream.
