Squid gravy

Calamari rings is a most common appetizers in Asian restaurants. That was totally new to me. All those times i have wondered what is a calamari. Little did i know it's the squid they are talking about. Phew!  It was in fact too good to try for the very first time. Something similar to onion rings but a non-veg appetizer. The quantity they provide you is way too much for one person. You can share it with 2/3 people as a snack.  I wish I had made calamari rings today, but was too tempted to try the curry my mom used to make when I was a kid. I did try a different version of the curry today. Let's see the recipe details and the ingredient list. Ingredients: 500 gms of squid 1 large onion 2 medium sized tomatoes 1 tsp red chilli powder salt to taste 2 tsp oil a fat pinch of turmeric powder 200 ml water 1 tsp mustard 1/2 split urad dhal 1 green chilli 1/2 cumin seeds 1 sprig of curry leaves How to make squid gravy: Clean the squid - take you own time. It's really a difficult tas

Sura Puttu | Shark Puttu

Seafood recipes are my personal favorite. Not because they are tasty but because they can be cooked with ease and the cooking time is even less compared to red meat recipes.  Today's recipe is all about making a puttu using shark fish. Sura means shark in Tamil this recipe is made by making tiny bits of shark fish, hence the name. Ingredients: 500 gms shark fish 3 green chillies 2 medium sized onions 1 tsp fennel seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds salt to taste 1 tbsp oil 2 sprig of curry leaves 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp chopped garlic 1 tsp finely chopped ginger 500 ml water How to make sura puttu: Clean and wash the fish thoroughly for about 8-9 times. Add water to a pan and bring it to boil. Switch off the flame. Add cleaned fish to the boiled water. Let it stand for about 15 minutes. The fish will get cooked completely as you can see the bulged sides of the fish pieces. Heat a wok. Add oil. Once oil is hot, add cumin and fennel. Sautee for few seconds. Add chopped curry leaves. Then a

Catla fish fry

Fish is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and big ones like catla, salmon, rohu are all really flesh ones which tend to be of lean meat texture. It's good to try meat like recipes with such fish. This is a south Indian recipe especially from Tamil Nadu.  I usually make fish fry with the same spices as listed here. You can add ginger-garlic paste if you want, but it would not compromise on the taste of the dish! Ingredients: 1 tsp red chilli powder salt to taste 1 tsp black pepper powder #How to make catla fish fry: Take all the spice powders and salt into a plate. Add 50 ml of water and mix it to a paste. Let it be thick so that it coats the fish pieces. Place fish pieces onto the plate and coat them nicely on both sides. Let it marinate for 20-30 minutes. Heat a tawa and add some oil. When the oil is hot enough, place marinated fish pieces on medium flame. Cook for 5 minutes. Drizzle some oil if needed. Flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes on medium flame. Drizzle few spoons of oil and
